Pie; How does a pastor & # 039 of America

This is a variation of the traditional American pie crust that will appeal to all fans of meat and potatoes. Mince has loaded a rich natural mushroom sauce and potatoes with cheese. Authentic Shepherds Pie to use lamb instead of beef.

Preparation time: 20 minutes

Cooking time: 45 minutes

Total time: 1 hour and 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound beef chuck
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, chopped
  • Half a cup of chopped onion
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced or pressed
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • Freshly ground pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1.2 cup beef broth
  • Half a cup of cream
  • Half cup frozen peas thawed,
  • 2 cups shredded hash browns (frozen or canned meat), packed
  • Make cup chopped chives (or green onions with green)
  • 2 cups finely shredded Cheddar cheese or cheese blend, divided
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • A quarter cup of mayonnaise
  • Hungarian paprika

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 375 F.

Place the ground beef, mushrooms, onions, garlic, salt and pepper in a heavy pan. Fry, breaking the mince, until the juices have almost evaporated.

Stir in Worcestershire, then flour. Cook 1 minute, stirring frequently. Add the beef broth, stirring constantly to mix and cream. Simmer until sauce thickens. Pour the mixture into a glass baking dish. Cool slightly and then sprinkle peas evenly over beef.

In a bowl, add combine hash browns, brown chives, 1 cup cheddar cheese, salt and mayonnaise. Spread evenly over the layer of beef. Spread remaining cup sprinkle cheddar cheese on top and with a little paprika.

Bake for about 45 minutes until the cheese is melted and lightly browned. Let stand for 15 minutes before serving.

Yield: 4-6 servings
